  Wiisagendam (My Heart Hurts)\," a solo show by Laura Youngbird.\n\nOpen
 ing Reception + Artist Talk: Friday\, July 14th\, 2023\, 6-8pm\nLight re
 freshments and food will be provided. All are welcome.\n\n"Inde Wiisagen
 dam (My Heart Hurts)" is a collection of multilayered\, multifaceted mon
 otypes from artist Laura Youngbird (Minnesota Chippewa\, Grand Portage B
 and). Using the dress as a metaphor\, her work addresses a wide range of
  social issues\, injustices and biases. Through mixed media — combinin
 g drawing\, painting and prints — Laura explores the dress as a consis
 tent and important symbol in her work\, as this simple garment contains 
 layer upon layer of meaning.\nThe works in this series examine mixed emo
 tions themes such as common thread\, loose ends and threadbare. Inde Wii
 sagendam will welcome both older pieces by Laura\, as well as never-befo
 re-exhibited works\, showcasing the artist’s depth of range.\n\nThis e
 xhibition is presented with Public Art Saint Paul as part of the Wakpa T
 riennial
